Yoke and Yoga

Yoga is a family of ancient spiritual practices originating in India. It is one of the six schools of Hindu philosophy, in which it is often paired with Samkhya, and they are referred together as the Samkhya-Yoga school. The word “yoga” derives from the Sanskrit root yuj (“to yoke”); which is cognate to modern English “yoke”, “jugal” and “jugum” in Latin. All derive from the Proto-Indo-European root *yeug- meaning “to join” or “unite” It is generally translated as “union of the individual atma (loosely translated to mean soul) with Paramatma, the universal soul.”

Its a great art. Do you wanna know the short cut. Mathew 11:30 My yoke is easy and my burden is light.

Ron Clark Story

Fantastic Movie. Watched it with my daughter on 19th Dec.. Loved it

Ron Clark has been called “America’s Educator.” His work with disadvantaged students in rural North Carolina and in inner-city Harlem garnered worldwide attention, and he was invited to the White House on three separate occasions to be honored by the President and Mrs. Clinton. Mr. Clark’s tireless work and dedication to making a difference in the lives of children led him to be named Disney’s American Teacher of the Year in 2000. Since receiving that distinction, he has been interviewed by Katie Couric on the Today Show, and he has appeared twice on the Oprah Winfrey Show. Ms. Winfrey even featured him in her magazine and named him her first “Phenomenal Man.” In addition, Ron’s experiences as a teacher are the subject of the critically acclaimed movie, “The Ron Clark Story,” that stars Matthew Perry in the lead role.

Fusing DM in Mass Media

I had this rare opportunity to work out a parthian shot to a client who decided to sack us to take up another agency. Its usually a dinner or a gift. I decided to give the client something memorable. An advertising idea. I wish I had given this when I had the account, I probably would have retained it. Anyways, the client bit into the idea, and it worked wonders that the incumbent agency inspite of signing up saw their campaign being grounded. This simple idea delivered the goods with out fanfare.

And I was trying to sell the same idea to Ms Saroja Kannan of Ogilvy1 for the launch of Hutch in Chennai, I could see the sales pitch falling flat, on my way out, I really did not know what I blurted but whatever I said caught the attention of Saroja. Who modified it gave it a tweak and then the Bronze in Cannes happened. A great day for me.

I wish I have the picture — will put it up soon

The Hindu said

oddities in church

In church I saw a little child being christened. The father, mother and the pastor with the child as the centre of attraction. Videographers and Photographers were trying to catch occassion. The entire congregation had lifted the hands to bless the child and the family. A great scene. Suprisingly not a single photograph was taken of the people blessing the child. Some how I felt as the child grows up, it would have been extremely wonderful for her to know who all were there during this great moment of her life.

Three Wealth creators in their Private Jets

One from the New York, the other from Mumbai and one from Hong Kong through their privately owned satellites get wind of a small project being started out in a small time cowshed in a remote village in Myanmar. They hop on to their private jets head for Myanmar, with a not so clear satellite map of this tiny speck of the cowshed in the village. They enquire with the General in the Army. They meet up, decide to form an investment consortium and locate the cowshed.

A non descript, humble and smelly place. Lo there sits these partners who seem to have just given birth to a brilliant idea – an idea that could change the world.

Here they are – three wealthy men with their investments handing over the best of what they have to the inhabitants of the cow shed.

They were right in their judgment. The world turned upside down. The Noble prize committee found it too awesome to acknowledge the event. They even dubbed it the second coming.
