WOWET – BE AMAZED FROM CLOSE RANGE

ET WowMy inner being  automatically longs for this ‘privilege’ to be invited for the preview for the WOWET show. Everything about it is so distinct. Right from the exhilaration of those children with challenges to the show itself evokes stirs up an different pattern of emotions.

To me its just not just circus neatly packaged for a 90 mt bundle in a air-conditioned comfortable place.  Circus has a different flavour this is watching stunning acts from close range.  There were 9 acts. Very tough to pick the favorite.  But it was stunning stuff. Words cannot explain so its best to watch it. So go do it. Here is the link

What can this show do to you?

If man can apply his mind on something he can do it. That will be the thought you will be left with. Avoid watching it dispassionately try getting lost during those 90 minutes. Just don’t watch the show broadly –  watch every little muscle twinge, watch those eyes of uncertainty, the look of determination the sense of achievement.  There are many distractors that you must avoid processing. The music and the event itself can distract you.  Don’t just marvel at the performers. Remember excellence embraces those who commit oneself to a task and pursue it doggedly.

Why embrace excellence?

Soon after the the show I had to meet a group of people in an investment company to train them on Attitude & behaviour. I found myself  telling  them to understand the power of weakness and not to lose sleep over it.  We give a lot of emphasis on strength, dont we?  and we push our weaknesses under the carpet and  feel embarrassed about it.

To drive home the point I gave them the – Mango Story of Vinayaga and Muruga.  The story talks about a ‘unfit’ contender winning the race.

After the thrills dished out in the WOWET show and with a talk about the ‘power of weakness’.  I got back home thoroughly mixed up yet not confused.

Cycling to work in Chennai – some tips

September was one of those bad months for me.  I suffered from a very bad back ache as a consequence of sloth in the month of August.  I went to a physio and after a little bit of exercising I decided to take my pain head on.

I have always been wanting to go to office by cycle for long.  It those fancy ideas that one chews upon occasionally and then drag and drop it into the recycle bin.

If you want to DO IT – DO IT.  Kiruba  had mentioned to me while teaching me how to juggle with 3 balls.  So on October 1st I decided to do it – Cycle to office.

And so I did.

I packed my bag with my lap top, office clothing and formal shoes.  I avoided things that would make my back pack heavy.  Off I peddled.  Well I have not been too much into cycling for more that 35 yrs so there were those apprehension in my eyes.  I started out slowly.

Slicing the distance.

Its just 5 kms from home to office but in traffic with the sun switched on it can be a bit strenuous.  So I sliced the distance into 8 manageable bits.

  1. Annanagar (Sundaram Medical) to Shanthi Colony end I called it the Shanti stretch
  2. Then from Shanti Colony end to Anna Arch I called the Arch stretch
  3. From Anna Arch to Ampa Mall ( a small stretch) I called it the PH Stretch
  4. Then the long Nelson stretch
  5. From there to Loyola college was the Loyola stretch
  6. Then the Sterling stretch
  7. The college Road stretch
  8. The Haddows stretch (that’s were my work place is)
After completion of each stretch I told myself YEAH  !!!!! and allowed a dopamine rush. This really helps.  45 minutes it took and I was in office

Farmville does not bug me

I was chatting with this big time corporate dude, he climbed the zenith of his own ego in lightning speed, then he pulls out this most startling statement. “IAM JUST AN HUMBLE FARMER”

Oh yes.. I used to be quite annoyed with the Farmville requests on FB, used to get my nerves throbbing with anger. Then there was change of heart in me. My best friend is a farmville freak. And then i came up with this startling findings, after a random observation survey of people who do farmville. Found a correlation between the Psalm 23 based belief system and religion and farmville.

And then i found this amazing picture that has helped me reconcile with this game.. There is a lot one can do with the fingers . ha ha

The buoyancy in marketing and promotions for products and services spur demand for visuals that have an Indian flavour.
Interestingly, the demand for local visuals is strong, whether the promotion is for a local brand or an MNC brand as long as the marketing effort is targeted at domestic consumers. “The Indian market for images is estimated to be worth roughly $10 million, which is miniscule compared to the global images business industry worth $2 billion, but what is significant is that India is leapfrogging in this business,” Sandeep Maheshwari, CEO of ImagesBazaar.
Surveys have revealed that in visual communication, a product or service meant for a particular population would be more successful if it carries a face that viewers can relate to, rather than a visual from a different part of the world. This, industry observers say, has led to a surge in demand for Indian visuals for the ever-growing business in the country in brochures, hoardings, packaging, presentations and even websites.

Worried parents come with children who get confused between ‘b’ and ‘d’ ..now watch out there will come a time when children will have problems decoding visuals. The fish and the booy may look the same…get away from the visual world…move into reading
