So how can I slim down? shed my fat? The first thing that probably props into your mind will be exercise/diet/fitness center etc. Does these work? How many people have you seen have cribbed about not being able to exercise or diet regularly. Hey in my case I was lean, and wanted to add some muscles, someone advised swimming….. I swam my heart out in the evenings.. got myself so tired that i started hogging my dinner and actually ended up with a pot belly, which I still carry with elan even now.
I observed those who were meticulous in counting their calories, managing their exercising regimen, or dieting with an aid of a disciplined monitoring mechanism did a lot better. What these successful people do is, put their body in the center of their life and living. They are so obsessed with themselves, they admire themselves in front of the mirrors, check their weights regularly, read about it, talk about it… its numbers numbers all the way. I have also noticed that these group of people generally dont talk much and the only sound that comes out from them is the big sigh!!!! when they carry weights. Oh I forgot, they spend a lot of money on supplements too. They are constantly motivated as their body gets sculpted to perfection which in turn motivates them to continue. This is a minuscule percentage, should be 3%.
What can the others do? If your body is one of the many things that you need to focus upon, then you can plonk yourself comfortably among the 97% of those who did not make it. This post is for the 97% of the people. People like me.
No activity can last if its not in the center
This is a simple principle, anything that is done consistently and with a emotional it sticks on. Which means that if you do not exercise regularly and if you are not liking it, just forget it. So the key is consistency and emotions. How can you get this for an activity like exercise, that is painful?
The simplest way would be to start out in small doses, but consistency is a must. I would suggest that you do not look at returns or changes for at least 60 days. Invest the first 60 days to accommodate this activity in your life. Doing 15 minutes of a slow paced, non strenuous activity for 30 days will help. Make sure, every time you do, you are happy about the consistency part and not be discouraged about doing a simple trot. You must remember that you are just using this to get used to the activity so dont expect any changes
You do not have to Adapt
Remember its all about you. Never try to adapt to the speed of the treadmill. The treadmill is for man/woman and not the other way around. Follow the instructions but never allow the equipment to dominate you. Worse still would be to be carried away by what the others do, if you are going to a gym.
You know what your body requires, just give that.
The other areas to be developed alongside
By trying to accommodate exercise into your life you are trying to modify your lifestyle. Remember most activities do not work on a linear level they work best in a organic way. So identify other areas that a linked to good health.
Food, house work, sitting posture, Reading, Trekking, etc are activities that are closely linked. Start dealing with them too. Gently.
Motivation
Its important to be motivated and motivation is what will help you carry on with the task. In the first 60 days your waist line or you weight loss may not motivate you. You need to find that motivation in the consistency that you achieve. It helps to keep a log of your activity. You can also reward yourself occasionally with a movie or by demanding a kiss by a loved one who understands the importance of consistency.
Finally if you are not really a logical person dont think logically about slimming, exercise = slimming equation will not work . Look at it as just another activity that is worth being accommodated in your life.
